Due Friday 10/17
Research different banned books, and choose a book that has been, or is currently, banned. Each student in one class must have a different book. Book choices are first come, first served, and the sign up sheet can be found on Google Drive.
After you have chosen your book, research the context in which the book was banned, and provide a 1-2 paragraph (5-7 sentences each) summary of the information you have found. Make sure to include a visual of the book and other relevant information. Be sure to include proper MLA citation!
Next, choose a children's book, and compose a satire that provides reasons for the banning of your children's book. The satire may be in the form of a short essay, a video, a meme, etc. Please see the links below for resources to help you build your satire. Also, see Mrs. Crandall's example on the Crandyland blog page.
Extension: As a class, we will be designing and constructing the display window for the Media Center. As an optional minor grade, create a design for the media center display window. The Media Center Specialist will vote on and choose the winning design. The winning design will be displayed in the Media Center display case (next to the front entrance of the Media Center), and the student will earn 10 Dojo points!!!
