Today, students finished viewing the PBS: Secrets of the Dead documentary on the Salem Witch Trials. Then, we engaged in a dramatic reading of Act III of The Crucible. Students are to continue to work on their Act III study guide questions and character trackers.

Today, we began class by assigning rolls for tomorrow's dramatic reading of Act III of The Crucible. Then, the class viewed PBS Secrets of the Dead: Witches' Curse, which introduced a scientific theory relating to the cause of the Salem Witch Trials, and completed the accompanying viewing guide. Students were given the remainder of the class period working on their study guides and character trackers for Act II of The Crucible. Reminders:

In case of inclement weather on Wednesday, as requested, in advance, by students...Please watch the following documentary, and complete the viewing guide that was handed out in class. Today, we began class with a discussion about inclement weather expectations. Students are to check the blog for instructions on inclement weather assignments. Then, students were issued their own copies of The Crucible, which they will turn in at the end of the unit. During this time, students worked on their CEI paragraphs for their "Preparing to Read The Crucible" readings (questions 1-15). Then, the class began reading and discussing Act I of The Crucible, and students began working in their Act I study guides and their character trackers.
Homework:
Today, we began class with a vocabulary unit two slap review game. Then, students took their vocabulary unit two quiz in lab 9234. Students who completed the quiz early were given class time work on their Sadlier unit three vocabulary exercises, NoRedInk exercises, or USA TestPrep practice test #1. Students were given the remainder of the class period to work on their "Preparing to Read The Crucible" texts and CEI paragraphs.
Homework:
Today, we began class with an extensive review of the format and requirements for a sophisticated CEI analysis paragraph. Then, the class read an excerpt from "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God," by Jonathan Edwards (SB pg. 110) and answered questions 1-4 in CEI paragraph format. Then, students were given the remainder of the class period to work on their Introduction to The Crucible Guided Reading and Cornell Notes Assignment.
Homework:
Today, we began class with a review of the features of the classroom blog. Then, we discussed the Cornell notes structure and requirements. Then, students worked on their Introduction to The Crucible Guided Reading & Cornell Notes Assignment for the remainder of the class period. Students will be given class time tomorrow to complete this assignment.

Today, students began class with a discussion of the Colonial era and the Salem Witch Trials. Then, students viewed History Channel's In Search of History: The Salem Witch Trials and completed a viewing guide. After lunch, students were given the remainder of the class period to work on their Native American Assimilation Annotation Assignment, which is due at the beginning of class tomorrow. Reminders:
Today, students began class by unpacking the SpringBoard Unit One Embedded Assessment #2 rubric, using a 13 words summary activity. Please see Mrs. Crandall for details. Then, students began writing a synthesis essay, using their Socratic Seminar notes, based on the writing prompt, found on page 103 of their SpringBoard textbooks. If students did not complete this assignment in class, they may complete it at home for homework.
