Today, we began class with an introduction to the New Fiction Friday presentation assignment. Students may sign up using the forms linked under this month's "A Glance at the Month" section of the blog. Then, the class read Cotton Mather's essay, "The Trial of Martha Carrier," on page 113 of their SpringBoard textbooks, and students answered questions 5-9 in complete sentences. Then, we completed our reading of Act I in The Crucible, and the class worked on the accompanying study guides and character trackers.

Today, students went to the Writing Lab to complete their assignments. Please see instructions for assignment completion below.
Today, we began class with a grammar review of prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections. Then, with help from the class, Mrs. Crandall modeled the corresponding grammar exercises. Then, the class read Jonathan Edwards' "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" (SpringBoard pg. 110) and answered analysis questions 1-4. Next, the class began reading Act I of The Crucible and working on the corresponding study guide and character chart.

Today, the class reviewed the different types of verbs and verb phrases, and Mrs. Crandall worked with the class to model the different exercises associated with the grammar review. Then, students took their unit one vocabulary quiz and previewed their unit two vocabulary words. Students were given the remainder of the class period to work on their grammar review packets.

Today, we began class with a grammar review of nouns and pronouns. Then, the class engaged in warm-up exercises, based on the grammar mini-lesson. Students should complete the exercises we previewed, tonight, for homework. Next, the class engaged in their American Dream Socratic Seminar, and they were given the prompt, an outline, and the rubric for tomorrow's American Dream in-class synthesis essay.
