Today, the class was given the majority of the class period to work on their USA TestPrep Practice Test #2. Students were also assigned a WebQuest, based on the history surrounding The Great Gatsby. Click HERE to access the Gatsby WebQuest.

Today, class began with a Magic Lens Levels 1-2 grammar warm-up exercise.
Today's Magic Lens Sentence: Sybil wrapped herself in her blanket and curled into a ball. Then, the class shared annotations from chapter one of The Great Gatsby. Next, the class began working on a close guided reading assignment, based on an excerpt from My Bondage and My Freedom by Frederick Douglass. Most students completed through question #7 of this assignment. We will complete this assignment in class tomorrow. Reminders:
Today, students were given a study guide for their upcoming Magic Lens quiz. Please see Mrs. Crandall for the answer key. Then, the class engaged in a discussion about Sources of Strength. Next, the completed the guided reading portion of The Great Gatsby and finished reading, discussing, and annotating chapter one.

Then, the class engaged in make-up Walt and Emily Blind Date project presentations and competed their notes over the Realism PowerPoint. Next, students were assigned their major grade annotation assignment for The Great Gatsby (see Mrs. Crandall for details), and the class began a guided reading of the exposition in chapter one of The Great Gatsby. Today, students engaged in a PowerPoint presentation/discussion and took Cornell notes based on an introduction to American Realism.

Today, students took their Romanticism Unit Test. They were given the remainder of the class period to engage in independent reading.

Today, students presented their blind date presentations, and they were given the remainder of the class period to play a card game review for tomorrow's Romanticism exam.

Next, click on the "New" button, in upper right-hand corner. Scroll down to "Upload" and choose the file from your computer. Upload the file, which should be saved as your last name. Today, we began class with a warm-up exercise through which we addressed the first "T" in the TPCASTT poetry analysis organizer for the poem, "Thanatopsis." Then, students completed their "Self-Reliance" and "Civil Disobedience" CEI paragraphs. Then, students were given the remainder of the class period to work on their Emily and Walt Blind Date presentation projects.
