Today, Mrs. Crandall attended a PSAT data meeting, and the class had a substitute teacher. The class was given the entire period to complete their vocabulary and grammar exercises. Please see Mrs. Crandall for access to the grammar exercises. If students completed these assignment early, they were given the remainder of the class period to work on their independent reading projects.

Today, we began class with a grammar bell ringer: action verbs, linking verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. Then students were given the remainder of the class period to complete and submit their Native American Oral Tradition assignments and work in setting up their webpages or hand-crafted scrapbooks for their Independent Reading projects.

Today, we began class with a vocabulary bell ringer. The class made flashcards and/or took notes and crafted original sentences with their five unit one vocabulary words. Then, the class reviewed the Independent Reading Project requirements and rubric. The class viewed the Ted Ed video, How to Write Fiction the Comes Alive. Then, the class was given the remainder of the period to work on the independent narrative portion of the Native American Oral Tradition assignment.

Today, we began class with our first grammar bell ringer on nouns and pronouns. Students took notes and practiced with this grammar concept. Then, the class was given the remainder of the period to work with their groups on steps 2-3 of their Native American Oral Tradition assignment.

Today, we began class with 6-Word Memoir presentations. Then, the class was introduced to Autonomy Friday expectations. For the remainder of class, students worked in groups on the Native American Oral Tradition CEI and Narrative assignment which they will complete in class on Monday.

Today, we began class with 6-Word Memoir presentations. Then, the class received guided notes on writing and took notes on the CEI paragraphs. We transitioned to the computer lab (9234) and worked on their American Dream Part II TedTalk assignment in CTLS. (due tonight by 11:59 PM).

Then, the class viewed Courtney Martin's TedTalk, "The New American Dream," and took notes on questions which they will respond to through a CTLS assignment tonight. Then, the class worked on the American Dream Vision Board assignment, which will be due at the beginning of class tomorrow.

Today, the class received their SpringBoard textbooks. Then, the class viewed Carol Dweck's Ted Talk, the power of believing you can improve. After the Ted Talk, we transitioned to lab 9234, and students uploaded their 6-Word Memoirs to CTLS and worked on their technology acknowledgment assignments.

Welcome to American Literature! Today, the class reviewed the syllabus and class expectations. Students filled out a student information form, and we discussed the optional pre-course and the independent reading books and assignments. Students were also given their first writing assignment, the 6-Word Memoir. Students drafted three 6-Word Memoirs which they will finalize and upload to CTLS in class tomorrow.
