Today, we began class with a whole-group lesson on building an effective counterargument. Then, the class was given time in the writing lab to collaborate with their debate groups to workshop their Into the Wild Debate Assignment. Please see the specific debate topics, listed below.

Today, we began class by reading chapter 16 of Into the Wild and working on our rhetorical modes organizer. Then, the class was given the majority of the period to work on their learning contracts. We ended class with an introduction to the Into the Wild debate assignment, and students chose their debate topics.

Then, students were assigned their learning contracts, and we discussed the associated assignments, projects, and deadlines. Students were given time in class to plan their learning contract schedules, using the learning contract calendar.
