Today, we began class with a grammar warm-up exercise. Mrs. Crandall, with the help of the class, modeled identifying and constructing infinitives and infinitive phrases. Then, the class was given 20 minutes to complete their analysis questions for "The Minister's Black Veil." Students who completed this task early were given time to work on their grammar exercises. Next, the class read Washington Irving's "The Devil and Tom Walker" and worked on the accompanying analysis questions and symbolism chart.
