During today's session, the class finished taking guided notes on the “Tips for Writing an Outstanding Essay” PowerPoint and reading Anzia Yezierka's “America and I” (SB pg. 13). Then, the class completed this portion of the American Dream Socratic Seminar Chart.
Homework:

During today’s session, students continued taking guided notes on the “Tips for Writing an Outstanding Essay” PowerPoint. Then, the class read Anzia Yezierska’s short story, “America and I” (SpringBoard pgs. 15-25) and filled in this section of the American Dream Socratic Seminar Preparation Chart. Students also submitted their Native American Annotation Assignment before the end of the class period.
Homework:
During today's session, the class continued taking guided notes on the “Tips for Writing an Outstanding Essay” PowerPoint. Then, the class completed part IV of the “Kill the Indian and Save the Man” portion of the Native American Assimilation Annotation assignment, along with the accompanying T-Chart. Students who competed the assignment during class were given the remainder of the class period to engage in independent reading.
Reminders:
We began today's session by continuing to take guided notes on the “Tips for Writing an Outstanding Essay” PowerPoint. Then, the class was introduced to the American Dream Socratic Seminar Preparation Chart assignment. The class read and discussed Walt Whitman's “I Hear America Singing” (SpringBoard pg. 72), Langston Hughes's “I, Too” (SpringBoard pg. 76), and Julia Alvarez's “I, Too, Sing America” (SpringBoard pg. 78) and completed these portions of the American Dream Socratic Seminar Preparation Chart.
Homework:
During today's digital session, the class began taking guided notes on the “Tips for Writing an Outstanding Essay” PowerPoint. Then, the class reviewed Ethos, Logos, Pathos through the “How to Use Rhetoric to Get What You Want” video. The class was given the remainder of the period to complete sections II-III of their “Kill the Indian and Save the Man” portion of the Native American Annotation Assignment, and complete their pre-course assignment.
