Today, students began working on their Native American Assimilation close-reading assignment. Students began reading "Kill the Indian and Save the Man" and furnishing summary annotations in the margins for each paragraph. Then, we previewed tonight's homework and the American Dream Socratic Seminar notes chart, and students were given class time to begin working on tonight's homework.

- Read “What is an American?” letter (excerpt from Letters From an American Farmer) by J. Hector St. John de Crèvecoeur (SpringBoard pg. 31).
- Answer “Key Idea and Details” and “Craft and Structure” questions 1-4, and create the “Working from the Text” graphic organizer (pgs. 33-34).
